history

Lindenau in the Feldatal was mentioned in a document on August 7, 1130. The place was owned by the Zella monastery and until 1428 it had a "monastery" designated Terminhof on the outskirts, the evacuation of which is mentioned in the documents and documents of the former Zella provost's office. Remnants of the stone buildings are said to have existed in the 18th century. The sovereign affiliation of the place changed several times: In the founding time it was in the area of the Counts of Neidhartshausen , after their extinction the place came into the office of the castle Fischbach belonging to the Fulda monastery , which united large parts of the upper Feldatal. The office was pledged from 1511 as a permanent administrative district to the Counts of Henneberg and after their extinction became an object of dispute between the Fulda monastery and the Ernestines as the legal heirs of the office.

The Fischberg office was divided in the Fischberger Rezess between the prince abbey of Fulda and the Duchy of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach, whereby the places to the right of the Felda , without Lindenau, fell to Saxony in 1764 and were initially incorporated into the Kaltennordheim office, with the remaining Fischberg office until 1815 Lindenau also came to Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach.

In 1955 there were 56 inhabitants in Lindenau, currently (2012) there are 36.
