Hans Leistikow (General)

Hans Leistikow (born August 29, 1895 in Metz , † March 29, 1967 in Krautheim (Jagst) ) was a German major general in World War II .

Life

Leistikow was since February 17, 1914 lieutenant in the infantry regiment "Lübeck" (3rd Hanseatic) No. 162 and took part with the regiment in the First World War, which he ended as a first lieutenant . In addition to the two classes of the Iron Cross, he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Royal House Order of Hohenzollern with Swords, the Hanseatic Cross Hamburg and the Wound Badge in black for his achievements.

He was accepted into the Reichswehr and worked here in 1924 in the 13th ( MW ) company of the 16th Infantry Regiment .

On the eve of the Second World War, Leistikow was a major and took part in the French campaign. After various stations, he was appointed field commander in Laval (Feldkommandantur 582) on June 20, 1944 . While the German troops in Europe withdrew, Leistikow was promoted to major general on October 1, 1944.
