Hans Ludwig Muller

Hans Ludwig Müller (born April 7, 1724 in Schaffhausen ; † December 14, 1809 there , reformed , entitled to live in Schaffhausen) was a Swiss entrepreneur .

Life

Hans Ludwig Müller was born on April 7, 1724 in Schaffhausen as the son of the comb maker Heinrich Müller and Helena, born Altdorfer. Müller, who belonged to the guild of vintners, initially worked as a paper maker in the Entlibucher paper mill and probably produced his first playing cards in the 1760s . Müller's first mention by name as "card maker" dates back to 1769. His first wife Helena, daughter of the pewter founder Johann Ludwig Burgauer, whom he married in 1758, was already on record a year earlier as a "card maker" . In the 1790s the production of the playing cards had to be stopped due to financial problems.

Hans Ludwig Müller, who had been married to Anna Margaretha, the daughter of the locksmith Hans Jakob Scherrer, in his second marriage since 1782 , died on December 14, 1809 at the age of 85 in Schaffhausen.
