Hans Peter Krings

Hans Peter Krings (born August 7, 1954 in Mönchengladbach ) is a German humanities and social scientist . He is professor for applied linguistics with a focus on Romance languages ​​/ international communication in Faculty 10 at the University of Bremen .

Krings teaches Romance languages and researches a. a. in the field of translation studies . He is jointly responsible for the interdisciplinary applied philological course "Language Management and International Communication".

At the University of Bremen and beyond, he is known to many students as the initiator of the Bremen writing coach .

Career

Krings studied Romance philology , social sciences, education and philosophy at the Ruhr University Bochum . He passed the first state examination for teaching high schools for French and Italian. He then worked for a year in a translation agency in Ancona (Italy) and a private language school as a teacher of German as a foreign language .

From 1981 to 1986 he worked at the seminar for language teaching research at the Ruhr University Bochum, initially as a research assistant, then as a research assistant. 1985 followed his doctorate to Dr. phil. in the subject of linguistic research with the thesis "What goes on in the minds of translators. An empirical study of the structure of the translation process in advanced French learners ". Other doctoral subjects were Romance philology and social sciences.

From 1985 to 1986 Krings was a co-initiator and research assistant in the DFG project "Special features of tertiary language teaching in upper secondary school in the subjects Italian and Spanish".
