Hans Peter Syndic

Hans Peter Syndikus (* 1927 ) is a German classical philologist and high school teacher .

After studying classical philology, Syndikus passed the state examination for higher teaching qualifications and received his doctorate in 1958 from the University of Munich with a thesis on Lukan . He then taught at various Bavarian high schools until his retirement in 1992 , most recently as director of studies at the Weilheim high school . He published numerous essays, lexicon articles and reviews on Latin poetry, but above all comprehensive interpretations of the lyrical work of Horace , the poems of Catullus and the elegies of Properz intended for school and university studies based on the current state of research.
