The Weilheim grammar school is a grammar school in Weilheim in Upper Bavaria and one of the largest in Bavaria .
history
On September 7, 1878, King Ludwig II approved the establishment of a four-level secondary school in Weilheim. This was set up in the already existing boys' school building and on September 25, 1878, teaching was first held. In 1895, the then rector of the school succeeded in expanding the four-level Oberrealschule (equivalent to today's grammar school) to a six-level one.
Today around 110 teachers and around 35 trainee teachers teach the approximately 1150 students at the school. Due to the high number of pupils, some of the pupil groups were able to form, who also became known outside of school because of their achievements.
General
After the seventh grade, the grammar school offers a choice of three different branches. A modern language, a humanistic or a scientific branch can be taken. In the humanistic branch, the second foreign language from the eighth grade onwards is Greek, in the modern language French. In the natural science branch, however, chemistry is taught in the eighth grade and the subject of computer science is retained. The aim is to offer a fourth branch with Spanish. Since the 2012/13 school year it has been possible to study Spanish as a late-beginning foreign language from the tenth grade.
The grammar school has many international contacts and regularly organizes student exchanges, e.g. B. to England , France or the USA .
