Hans Rémond (born January 27, 1932 in Salzwedel , Germany ) is a contemporary painter. He lives and works in Basel .

Life

After fleeing Germany with his parents, Hans Rémond came to Switzerland via Luxembourg in 1938 . He attended the schools in Binningen and Münchenstein and began an apprenticeship as a car painter and flat painter in 1948. After completing his apprenticeship, he initially practices the profession, but also continues his artistic training. He has been a freelance artist in Basel since 1961 .

Works

The early works of Hans Rémond show clear traces of Expressionism , sometimes they are kubistisierend or futurisierend (so specifically his "character" of 1966). However, he soon overcame his predecessors and turned to other materials than traditional oil on canvas. Particularly noteworthy are his string pictures, which on the one hand force the viewer to the most extreme aesthetic asceticism , but on the other also question the essence of the artist himself ("everyone can make his own string picture").
