Hans Raab

Hans Raab (born September 2, 1940 in Merchweiler ; † September 13, 2012 in Zurich ) was a German entrepreneur and inventor. He got rich through his cleaning products. Most recently he made headlines as a fish farmer in Switzerland.

biography

Hans Raab began his career as an underground miner. In the early 1970s, he built a building cleaning company. When he observed health problems with chemical cleaning agents, he looked for alternatives. He developed physical-mechanical cleaning methods based on highly compressed micro-fibers. Raab registered a total of over 200 patents.

After disputes with the Saarland tax authorities, Hans Raab moved his residence to Schaan in Liechtenstein . In the Swiss town of Oberriet in the Rhine Valley, he set up a melander fish farm. In 2011 he had to close the fish farm because the method by which the fish were killed was not permitted under Swiss law.

Hans Raab died on September 13, 2012 after a long illness in a Zurich hospital.
