Hans Reinhard Seeliger

Hans Reinhard Seeliger (born March 15, 1950 in Oberhausen ) is a German church historian .

Life

Seeliger studied theology , philosophy , art history and psychology at the Universities of Augsburg and Münster . He received his doctorate in 1980. In 1983 he became a university assistant at the University of Mainz . In 1986, Seeliger became Professor of Historical Theology at the University of Siegen . From June 2001 until his retirement in 2016 he was Professor of Ancient Church History , Patrology and Christian Archeology at the University of Tübingen .

Seeliger is President of the Society for the History of Wine .

He is a signatory of the memorandum “ Church 2011: A Necessary Awakening ”.
