Hans Rieckert

Hans Rieckert (born August 4,  1938 in Tübingen ) is a German sports doctor .

career

Rieckert passed his Abitur in Calw in 1958 and then studied medicine at the University of Tübingen . In 1963 he completed the medical state examination, and a year later his doctoral thesis. In 1970 he received his habilitation at the University of Ulm .

In 1973 Rieckert took up a professorship in Ulm, from 1975 he headed the newly established chair for sports medicine at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel , and in 2003 he retired when he retired.

Rieckert researched in particular in the field of performance physiology, school sports and examined sports medicine aspects of sailing and surfing. In this regard, he led several research projects, including "Sports medicine competition optimization in sailing" in the early 1990s. In 1986 he presented the book “Performance Physiology: A Topic-Oriented Presentation for Sports Students, Sports Teachers and Sports Physicians”, which appeared as part of the series “Contributions to Teaching and Research in Sports” and which comprehensively describes physical aspects of athletic performance.

Rieckert was also in demand as a sports medicine specialist in non-scientific media publications. He was a member of the scientific advisory board of the German magazine for sports medicine, from 1975 he was chairman of the Sports Medical Association Schleswig-Holstein.
