Hans Riemann

Hans Riemann (born April 16, 1899 in Gablenz ; † November 19, 1992 ) was a German classical archaeologist .

After studying classical archeology, classical philology and art history in Tübingen , he was on 25 June 1934 with the dissertation to Greek peripteral: His plan idea and its development until the end of the 5th century doctorate and habilitated to 1934. He then worked as Privatdozent initially in Tübingen, then from 1947 in Erlangen , before he was appointed adjunct professor of classical archeology on May 13, 1953 . After Georg Lippold's retirement, he was a deputy chair until December 1953 .

In March 1954 he began his library training at the University of Erlangen, which he completed in 1955. Since December 1954 he was a full member of the German Archaeological Institute (DAI), in 1955 he became librarian in the Rome department of the DAI and in 1956 Scientific Councilor. In 1965 he retired. From 1959 to 1969 he was editor of the Roman Communications and their supplementary booklets.
