Hans Rudolf Fuhrer

Hans Rudolf Fuhrer (born May 9, 1941 in Uitikon , Canton of Zurich ) is a Swiss military historian and officer ( Colonel a D).

Life

Fuhrer studied pedagogy, military history and Swiss history and was trained in 1982 by Walter Schaufelberger at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Zurich with a dissertation on espionage against Switzerland. The secret German intelligence services against Switzerland in World War II for Dr. phil. PhD.

Until 1990 he was a seminar teacher in the training of teachers for the secondary level at the University of Zurich. He completed his habilitation with the thesis The Swiss Army in World War I. Threat, national defense and national fortification . Then he was a lecturer in military history at the Military Academy of the ETH Zurich and private lecturer at the University of Zurich until 2006 .

Fuhrer published several books on military history. He was active as a tour guide and board member in the Swiss Society for Military History Study Tours. In 2014 he became an honorary member of the society.

In addition to several books, he also published articles in the Historical Lexicon of Switzerland .

In addition, he holds the rank of colonel retired.
