successes

Hans Rudolf Spillmann took part in the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome . In the prone position with the small-bore rifle, he did not get past 32nd place, while he did much better with the free rifle in the three-position fight. Like Vasily Borissow, he scored 1,127 points, but was classified in second place because of the better result in the prone attack. Spillmann thus received the silver medal behind Hubert Hammerer . Two years later he became vice world champion with the free rifle in the individual competition of the recumbent attack in Cairo and took third place in the team competition both in the three-position fight with the free rifle and with the small bore rifle.
