Hans Ruland

Hans Ruland (* 1948 in Munich ; † March 4, 2006 ibid) was a German jazz journalist, organizer and radio presenter in the Jazz Welle Plus, which he founded .

Ruland was a trained businessman and was also active in various ways in the jazz environment . From 1982 he was an employee and then from 1983 publisher and editor-in-chief of the jazz newspaper , which initially only appeared in Munich, later also in a Hamburg edition and then from 1997 nationwide. In 1986 he founded the Munich jazz channel “Jazz Welle Plus”, in which he also moderated. In 1991 he also founded an offshoot in Hamburg. In 1997, for health reasons, he gave up the management of both the jazz newspaper (which was sold to the Conbrio publishing house) and the Jazz Welle Plus, but moderated on Bavarian radio until 2005 (Hot Club, Radiojazznacht, Jazzpoint). He was the founder of the jazz label Swingtime Records, on which he released recordings by Dorothy Donegan , Jay McShann , Joe Turner and Dick Wellstood . Ruland also organized jazz concerts (he had an agency "Jazzbüro Ruland"), whereby he had a preference for pianists (and the stride piano style).
