Hans Scholten (born April 7, 1935 in Dinslaken ) is a German conservationist and was state chairman of the German Federation for Bird Protection in North Rhine-Westphalia from 1978 and president of the federal association from 1984 to 1988.

Life, offices and functions

Scholten received his doctorate in law from the University of Cologne in 1966 with the dissertation The judicial review of economic entrepreneurial measures in the dismissal process for Dr. jur.

Scholten became president of the NABU regional association in 1978 and from 1984 to 1988 president of the DBV federal association. He became the successor of DBV Reform President Berndt Heydemann , who resigned his presidency after only six months in office. During Scholten's term of office, the implementation and expansion of the environmental impact assessment, nature conservation legislation and European policy fall. Scholten implemented some of his predecessor's ideas, such as how the DBV magazine was renamed "Nature Conservation Today" at the beginning of 1985. In 1984, under Scholten, the subtitle "Deutscher Naturschutzverband" was introduced at the DBV.

After discussions mainly about the self-image of the Presidium and the position of the DBV within the association scene, Hans Scholten was replaced by the previous Vice President Klaus Dürkop in the presidium elections in 1988 . Scholten and the later president Jochen Flasbarth both come from the DBV district group Wesel . Flasbarth was youth spokesman there and also became president of the NABU federal association in 1992. Scholten lives in Wesel.
