Klaus Dürkop

Klaus Dürkop (* 1940 in Tönning ) is a German conservationist.

Klaus Dürkop has been involved in nature conservation since 1965 , primarily as a supervisor for the East Holstein Graswarder , a nature reserve near Heiligenhafen . In 1987 he received the Federal Cross of Merit for his commitment . Dürkop was Vice President from 1984 to 1988 and President of the German Association for Bird Protection (DBV), the West German predecessor association of NABU, from 1988 to 1992 . Klaus Dürkop was state nature conservation officer in Schleswig-Holstein for five years . In 2012 he drew a sobering assessment of his office: "The decline in species could not be stopped."
