Hans Sehlhoff

Johann "Hans" Sehlhoff (born December 3, 1934 ; † August 13, 2009 ) was a German soccer player who completed 59 games in the Oberliga West for Meidericher SV .

Career

Sehlhoff made his debut during the season 1954/55 for the league team of Meidericher SV from Duisburg , but did not get beyond this one use. The league represented the top division in the then regionally limited league system. In 1955, the Meidericher had to accept the first relegation from the first division after six years, with the gap to the top half of the table only a few points due to a very even distribution of points. Thus, the MSV had to contest the 1955/56 season in the II. Division and Sehlhoff, who came from the club's own youth, was firmly in the first team. In the following period he was regularly called up in the position of right-back , but had to contend with injury problems at times.

In 1956, the team achieved an immediate return to the league, in which Sehlhoff was also used regularly in the following time. With his teammates he was able to establish himself in the top division and in the following years he was placed in the upper middle of the table. In 1959, Sehlhoff, who until then had mostly been part of the first eleven, finally left the Meidericher squad. By then he had played 59 league games and 14 second division games, each without scoring his own. He lived in Burgsolms until after the death of his wife ; He died in December 2009 in the Meiderich district of Duisburg at the age of 74.
