Hans Skramstad

Hans Skramstad (* 1797 in Østre Toten , Norway , baptized on December 26 , † June 15, 1839 in Bergen , Norway) was a Norwegian composer and pianist .

He made his pianist debut in 1819 in Christiania, now Oslo , but then left Norway, presumably to study in Paris . From 1822 to 1826 he gave concerts in several Norwegian cities and also in Stockholm and Copenhagen . He later traveled to Germany , France and Switzerland because he wanted to make a name for himself as a piano virtuoso there. From 1835 until his death he worked in Norway (mainly in Christiania) as a piano teacher .

His surviving works are exclusively for piano and include four variations , a waltz and a four-hand march .
