Hans Stohler

Hans Stohler (born August 15, 1884 in Pratteln , † November 11, 1963 in Basel ) was a Swiss teacher, mathematician and local historian.

Life

Hans Stohler, son of the geometer and politician Martin Stohler , attended schools in Pratteln, Liestal and Basel. He then studied mathematics at the University of Basel and completed his studies with a doctorate. 1908–1912 he worked as a secondary teacher in Muttenz and then until his retirement in 1950 as a mathematics teacher at the upper secondary school and at the mathematical and natural science high school in Basel. He published several textbooks on mathematics and geography as well as magazine articles on historical-technological topics such as sundials, Roman surveying and ancient landmarks.
