Martin Stohler

Martin Stohler (born September 5, 1857 in Pratteln , † July 11, 1910 in Basel ) was a Swiss geometer and politician ( Freinn ).

Life

Martin Stohler, son of a farmer , trained as a geometer at the Technikum Winterthur and opened his own office in Pratteln. Among other things, he unplugged the routes of the Waldenburgerbahn and the Birsigtalbahn . He also takes topographical recordings for the federal government in Ticino with a view to the first Gotthard fortress. He also worked as a municipal administrator for Pratteln and as a road construction inspector in the canton of Basel-Landschaft . In 1889 he was elected to the Basel government council as a representative of the Liberals , but in 1892 he returned to his learned profession because of poor pay. From 1898 he was head of the surveying office in the canton of Basel-Stadt . From 1906 to 1910 he was a canton geometer in Basel.

His son Hans Stohler was a teacher, mathematician and local historian.
