Hans Theodor David
Hans Theodor David (born July 8, 1902 in Speyer , † October 30, 1967 in Ann Arbor ) was a German-American musicologist.
David studied at the Universities of Tübingen , Göttingen and Berlin . His dissertation with the title Johann Schobert as a sonata composer was published in 1928. He went to the Netherlands in 1933 and emigrated to the USA in 1936.
There he became an employee of the New York Public Library in 1937 . In 1939 he received a lectureship at New York University . From 1945 to 1950 he was professor and rector of the musicology faculty at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, then he was professor of music history at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.
