Hans Truchsess from Höfingen

Hans Truchsess von Höfingen († November 28, 1576 ) was Württemberg councilor and senior bailiff of Tübingen .

Life

Hans von Höfingen was a member of the noble family of Truchseß von Höfingen . Höfingen, where he resided at the castle, is now part of Leonberg . He held the office of senior bailiff in Tübingen and was married to Barbara, born von Neuneck († 1561).

In 1409 he bought Pfäffingen Castle from Ostertag von Lustnau for 1700  florins including goods and goods. He handed it over to Württemberg on July 6, 1458 as a fief and sold it shortly afterwards in 1460 to Konrad von Fürst .

epitaph

He died in 1576 and is buried in the Tübingen collegiate church, there is also his epitaph . In the center it shows Hans and his wife Barbara with their family crest kneeling in front of the cross. Further ancestors are documented above this motif with two further coats of arms. The inscription reads:

ANNO DNI M.LXXVI ON NOVEM 28: DIED THE EDEL AND VEST HANS TRUCHSÄS VO (N) HÖFINGEN AT HÖFINGEN AND KRESPACH, PRINCIPAL WIRTEMBERGISCHER, RHAT, AND OBERVOGT AT TÜBINGEN. MERCY AND MERCIFUL TO GOD HIS WOOL.
