Hans Walter Imhoff (born February 25, 1886 in Basel , † March 19, 1971 in Riehen ) was a Swiss football player .
Career
Imhoff, originally from Basel, was one of the many Swiss footballers who played in Italy at the beginning of the 20th century and did important pioneering work for this sport there. Together with some of his compatriots - including Alfred Bosshard and Ernst Widmer - he formed an important part of the Milan Foot-Ball and Cricket Club team in the middle of the first decade of the 1900s .
In 1907 Hans Walter Imhoff was a regular and top scorer of the Milan team, which won the third Italian championship in the club's history under coach Daniele Angeloni .
Together with Giampaolo Pazzini , who scored three goals against FC Bologna on September 1, 2012 , Imhoff is still the only Milan player to score three goals in his starting XI debut.
Imhoff died on March 19, 1971 at the age of 85 in Riehen, a suburb of his hometown Basel.
