Life

Hans Weber grew up in Indonesia, where his father worked as a civil engineer for a Dutch company. The father was interned by the Dutch at the outbreak of World War II and is considered missing. In 1942 the family was brought to Japan by Japanese forces. It was not until 1947 that the family was able to travel to Linx , their parents' hometown. Hans Weber attended school there and learned the carpentry trade in the neighboring village.

After taking his master craftsman's examination at the age of 22, Weber founded his own company in Linx in 1960 with start-up capital of DM 800 by taking over a two-man carpentry business that specialized in the manufacture of wooden frame houses . In 1961 he built the first three prefabricated houses. In the following years he developed the company into a Europe-wide company. According to the company (as of 2017), 35,000 houses have been built since it was founded.
