Mehed ei nuta (in German “Men don't cry”) is an Estonian feature film from 1968 .

A group of men from the city have been diagnosed with a serious illness: insomnia . They go to a modern sanatorium to cure their ailment. However, they are abducted by a young doctor to a (supposed) island on the Estonian west coast. A “real” sanatorium is far and wide in sight.
The doctor prescribes exactly what the “patient” needs: work and fresh air. More than unwilling to get involved in the surprising therapy, the men do everything in their power to leave the island as quickly as possible ... Hilarious and slapstick-ready entanglements of the very different characters and temperaments are the result, garnished with a little luck in love.

Mehed ei nuta was the first feature film by the Estonian director, actor and dancer Sulev Nõmmik . In the film he plays a nervous and constantly rushed professor who runs a state-of-the-art sanatorium, but in which the sick become even sicker through the latest forms of treatment.
The black and white film was shot on Kõinastu laid island , near Koguva on Muhu island , in Varbla village , on Pärnu beach and in Tallinn .
The funny comedy premiered on Estonian television on January 1, 1969 . It quickly became a cult film . Numerous dialogue scenes are familiar to every Estonian as winged sentences .
The film won an award at the Eastern European TV Film Festival in Varna , Bulgaria .
In 2004 the film was released on DVD in a slightly restored version.
