Hans Zangemeister

Hans Eberhard Zangemeister (born February 11, 1907 in Königsberg i. Pr. , † January 30, 1970 in Hamburg ) was a German ENT doctor, audiologist and university professor in Königsberg and Hamburg.

Life

Since 1928 Zangemeister was a member of the Corps Rhenania Freiburg . As the son of the last Königsberg full professor of gynecology, Wilhelm Zangemeister , Zangemeister studied and received his doctorate at the Albertus University of Königsberg . In 1943 he completed his habilitation at the University of Hamburg . Zangemeister devoted himself to diseases of the inner ear in the University Clinic Hamburg-Eppendorf . They were addressed to over fifty of his eighty publications. He continued to develop audiometry and in 1958 carried out the first stapes surgery for otosclerosis in Hamburg . With Hermann Frenzel (1895–1967) from the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen , the inventor of the Frenzel glasses , he founded the Association of German Audiologists in Goslar in 1949 . He won the competing guild of hearing aid acousticians for a collaboration with the Association of German Ear Doctors. Zangemeister was married to Marianne geb. Schmidt. The Hamburg neurologist Wolfgang H. Zangemeister (* 1945) is their son.
