Hans von Bobrowicz

Hans von Bobrowicz (born June 29, 1901 , † September 23, 1977 ) was a German preservationist and local history researcher .

Life

In 1958, Hans von Bobrowicz, who comes from an old noble family, founded the Active Monument Preservation Working Group in Dresden , which was awarded a certificate of honor in May 1966 on the occasion of the 1000th hour worked. This working group was later than Section construction and monument to the Cultural Association of the GDR connected. He headed this specialist group until his sudden death in 1977. As such, he actively campaigned in the GDR for the preservation of the historical buildings left over from the bombing in Dresden in 1945 and for researching the history of his hometown and shared his acquired knowledge further. Under his direction, among other things, the casemates under the Brühlsche Terrasse in Dresden were laboriously uncovered in the course of Böttger research and parts of them were made accessible to the public for the first time in 1967 (since 1992 Museum fortress Dresden ).

In October 1964 he took part in the 1st Dresden Hobby Show and in September 1965 at the 2nd Dresden Hobby Show.

Hans von Bobrowicz was also involved in the expansion of the Bärenzwinger into an FDJ student club, for which he received an honorary certificate in June 1967. Between 1974 and 1976 he supervised the excavations in cooperation with the reconstruction of the Inner New Town and uncovered numerous wells, sewage pits and parts of the medieval Dresden city wall.

He published some of his research results in the daily press, including in the Sächsische Zeitung and above all in Die Union . In addition, he organized several excursions for the specialist group he led, including to Leubnitz near Dresden, Freiberg , Kamenz , Scharfenberg Castle , for the preparation and implementation of which he prepared typescripts.

His scholarly estate is now in the Saxon State Library in Dresden. It has been handed down relatively incompletely and mainly affects the last years of his life. The books and maps contained in the estate, which were incorporated into the printing and map department of the Saxon State Library. In 2000, this estate was supplemented by a gift from a former member of the building and monument preservation specialist group in the Kulturbund.
