Hans von Opel

Johann Jakob "Hans" Opel (from 1918 of Opel * 27. July 1899 in Rüsselsheim , † 25. June 1948 in Liestal ) was a German industrialist from the family Opel .

Johann Jakob von Opel was the grandson of the automobile manufacturer Adam Opel and the son of Carl Opel and Helene Wilhelmine Mouson . When his father Carl on March 1, 1918 raised to the hereditary nobility, so were ennobled his descendants and entitled the of lead in their names.

Hans von Opel and Salomon Meyer were the founders of the Hansa financing company for automobile trading companies, which over time has developed into a major German investment and finance company. His wife was Sophie von Opel-Hübscher (1902–1989). After the early death of her first husband, she married Karl Binding, from the traditional brewery family of the same name. Hans von Opel left a considerable fortune to his wife, which later formed the basis of the Sophie and Karl Binding Foundation .

Hans von Opel was a member and honorary boy of Corps Franconia Darmstadt . He is buried in the Opel mausoleum in Rüsselsheim am Main .
