Hans von Watter

Hans Freiherr von Watter (born May 5, 1903 in Koblenz ; † May 9, 1945 on the run from Prague ) was a German administrative officer.

Life

Hans von Watter, son of a major general, studied law at the Philipps University of Marburg and the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen after attending grammar school in Cannstatt and Karlsgymnasium in Stuttgart . In 1921 he became a member of the Corps Suevia Tübingen . In 1925 he passed the first state examination in law. In 1928 passed the second state examination and was awarded a Dr. jur. PhD . In 1929 he entered the service of the Württemberg interior administration and was appointed to the government council that same year. Between 1929 and 1933 he worked for various senior offices. In May 1933, he joined the State Commissariat's department responsible for district and corporate administration. In November 1933 he was transferred to the Württemberg Ministry of Economics. In 1933 he joined the NSDAP . In 1935 he was Temporary Administrator and in November of that year, district administrator of the district Freudenstadt . In March 1939, at the request of his corps brother Konstantin von Neurath , he was seconded to the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia , was initially a short-term district chief in Náchod and Königgrätz , then from May 1939 district chief in Prague and from October 1, 1939 district chief of the district of Prague. In 1944 he became Ministerialrat in the German State Ministry in Prague.
