Hans von Wodtke

Hans von Wodtke (born August 9, 1922 - † September 8, 2014 ) was a German handball player and coach .

Career

Hans von Wodtke came from a Pomeranian noble family. In the 1950s he joined the handball sports club Postsportverein München in Bavaria . Because of his good performance he was appointed to the German national handball team, which was newly established after the Second World War , in which he played in the first game of a German national field handball team after the war in 1951. With this team he completed his first and last national team game as an active player and coach against Austria on January 21, 1951.

Mainly he was the coach of the PSV women's team, which he led to the 1950 German women's field handball championship.

For this success, he and the women's championship team were awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf by Federal President Theodor Heuss on December 1, 1950 .
