The Hanson Peak is a 1,255 m high mountain in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the north of the Adare Peninsula, it rises 6 km south of Cape Adare .
The New Zealand Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the mountain after the Norwegian zoologist and polar explorer Nicolai Hanson (1870-1899), who participated in the Southern Cross Expedition (1898-1900) under the leadership of Carsten Egeberg Borchgrevink on October 14, 1899 died of illness and his grave is not far from the mountain described here.
