The Tiger Glacier is a glacier on the east coast of the Kenai Peninsula in the US state of Alaska . It is located in the Chugach National Forest just 130 km southeast of Anchorage .
geography
The 9.5 km long Tiger Glacier forms an outlet glacier of the Sargent Icefield . Its nutrient area is at an altitude of 950 m . The Tiger Glacier flows in an east-northeast direction and ends at the head of Icy Bay , a side bay of Prince William Sound . The glacier covers an area of about 35 km² and has an average width of 2.4 km. The Tigertail and Chenega glaciers run further north .
Naming
The glacier received its name from the US Geological Survey in 1910 .
