The Chenega Glacier is a glacier on the east coast of the Kenai Peninsula in the US state of Alaska . It is located in the Chugach National Forest just 130 km southeast of Anchorage .
geography
The 19 km long Chenega Glacier forms an outlet glacier of the Sargent Icefield . Its nutrient area is at an altitude of 750 m . The Tiger Glacier flows in a northeasterly direction and ends at the head of the Nassau Fjord , a northern side bay of Icy Bay , which in turn is a side bay of Prince William Sound . The glacier has an average width of 4.8 km.
Naming
The glacier received its name from the US Geological Survey in 1905 . The name of the glacier refers to the village of Chenega, then located on Chenega Island .
