Hansruedi Züst

Hansruedi Züst (born November 11, 1921 in Rheineck ; † November 22, 2005 in Zurich ; resident in Wolfhalden and Zurich) was a Swiss electrical engineer, television pioneer and director of the Swiss radio and television company from the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden .

Life

Hansruedi Züst was a son of Albert Züst, teacher, and Margareta Pfeiffer. In 1946 he married Maud Wohlwend, a daughter of Bartholome Wohlwend, an electrician. He studied low-voltage technology at the ETH Zurich . From 1947 to 1951 he was involved in the development of the Eidophor projector in the industrial research department of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology . From 1951 to 1953 he prepared television operations on behalf of the postal, telephone and telegraph companies . As technical director of Swiss television from 1953 to 1973 and as the first technical director of the Swiss Radio and Television Company from 1974 to 1983, he played a key role in the technical development and expansion of television in Switzerland. He played a crucial role in the introduction of color television and the decentralization of the production of the daily news .
