Hanssuesia is a genus of the bird pelvic dinosaur (Ornithischia) from the group of the Pachycephalosauria . The only species described is H. sternbergi .

From hanssuesia only parts of are far skull known. As with all pachycephalosaurs, the top of the skull was thickened and consisted of the fused frontal and parietal bones (frontoparietals). This formed a broad, dome-shaped structure. Characteristic of these dinosaurs are also a dented parietal bone, a wide protrusion of the frontal bone and other features in the structure of the skull bones. Otherwise nothing is known about the physique of this dinosaur.

The fossil remains of Hanssuesia come from the Canadian province of Alberta and the US state of Montana . They are dated in the Upper Cretaceous (late Campanium ) to an age of around 76 to 72 million years.

The finds were first described in 1943 under the now invalid name Troodon sternbergi by Brown and Schlaikjer ( Troodon is now considered a theropod dinosaur). The validity of the species was later questioned and the finds were classified in Stegoceras . Robert Sullivan, in a 2003 study of Stegoceras remains, found the differences significant enough to classify them in a new genus, Hanssuesia . The generic name honors the American paleontologist Hans-Dieter Sues .
