Happy End was a Polish band that had great success with pop and rock music in Poland in the second half of the 1970s. The band was founded in 1975 by Zbigniew Nowak. Her most played hit to date Jak się masz, kochanie (How are you darling) and is one of the most important hits of the 20th century in Poland. About the name, band founder Zbyszek Nowak said in 2007 to the online magazine Wiadomosci24: “The name is mine. I thought this was appropriate to the music we are creating and presenting together, and it suits my optimistic mind and nature. 'Happy' - that means 'happy' - the name is well received. And it stays that way! "
history
Happy End had their first appearance in the spring of 1975 in the regional studio of Polskie Radio in Łódź . After that she had numerous appearances at concerts and television, including several times at the Festiwal Piosenki (now the Sopot Festival ), where they celebrated their greatest successes.
In 2008, Nowak reported for a television documentary how, as a young teenager, he told his parents that he wanted to become a musician one day and that his wife would be called Danusia. This dream came true: when Zbyszek asked Danusia during the first phone call if she was interested in working in the band and if she had nice legs because the other band members preferred tight costumes, she said yes. That was a year after the band was founded, when a new singer was wanted.
There were international appearances a. in the GDR , Czechoslovakia , Finland , Norway , Sweden and the Soviet Union . Most of the appearances there were in the years 1977-1979, when three to four shows a day or even up to six appearances took place regularly. There were also appearances in cultural centers of the Polish communities in Canada and the United States . In 1979 the composition changed until the band split up in 1981.
Nowak went to the United States, where he appeared as a solo pianist and with various bands, a. a. As a duo under the name Danny & Didi .
In 1988 the band got together again and performed as a duo with a changing line-up, first in the USA and later also in Poland until around 1995 under the names Happy End or Zbyszek [Nowak] & Danusia . After 18 years they went to the USA for the last time, where they performed in California, Chicago, Arizona, Texas, New York, Pennsylvania, and Vancouver (Canada). According to the music portal Unistersound.pl, the duo brought three generations of music lovers together at the concerts. Her most popular hits were “Nadaj do mnie SOS”, “Jak się masz kochanie”, “Ballada o Marii Magdalenie”, “Słoneczna California” etc. The current program is called “Muzyczne przygody z Happy Endem” (musical adventure with happy ending) .
