The Happy Valley (English for Glückstal ) is a horseshoe-shaped , icy, over 16 km long and 5 km wide valley in the west Antarctic Ellsworthland . It is in the Behrendt Mountains .
A team from the University of Wisconsin , who explored this area between 1965 and 1966, gave the valley its name, derived from its shape and its figurative meaning .
