Happy wars

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Happy Wars is a multiplayer - Action game , which on 12 October 2012 for the Xbox 360 was released. The game was developed by Toylogic Inc. and distributed by Microsoft Studios . It will be the first game for this console to be based on the free-to-play business model.

Gameplay

Happy Wars is free to play for Gold members of the Xbox Live service, but an internet connection is required. You can either play in online mode with 2-30 people, or play a story campaign , training games or missions in single player mode .

Characters

The player has a total of nine characters available: three warriors, three clerics and three magicians. Each of the three figures can be edited by skin color, eyes, mouth, etc. The figures must be equipped with items that can be won in the shop, on the wheel of fortune or in games. Each figure can be equipped with one or two weapons, a shield, armor, a helmet and an extra item. With the warrior you can choose between the warrior class, who carries one weapon and a shield, or the berserker class, who carries two weapons.

Game objective

The aim of the game is to destroy the main tower of your opponents. The players are divided into two teams, each of which owns a castle. The two castles are on opposite ends of the map. In between there are towers that have to be built. Depending on which team built the tower, team members can spawn at the respective tower. However, the opposing team can dismantle the tower and rebuild it for itself. Depending on how many opponents you have defeated or how many towers you have built, you get points that are used to rank the players at the end of the game. To win the game, the opponents main tower must be destroyed, which is located in the opponents castle. To get there, either ladders have to be built, or the gate has to be destroyed by attack or a battering ram. If none of the teams destroyed the opposing main tower at the end of a predefined time, the team that owns the most towers wins.

IGN Entertainment's Taylor Cocke describes the game as cute but highlights several issues. So the action is sometimes very confusing when several players from both teams are fighting for a point. If several visual effects run simultaneously on the screen, it is sometimes no longer even possible to see your own character. The game creates neither playful depth nor easy accessibility in multiplayer battles, but this is essential in order to bind players to the game. The story campaign is funny at first, but it quickly becomes boring due to the lack of variety and poor artificial intelligence .

Despite its free-to-play principle, the game tries not to force players to buy game items with real money. As a result, however, there are many free items that differ too little from each other to generate a collecting instinct in the players. As a conclusion, Cocke writes that the game is too extensive and too simple to try to be accessible to everyone. The game therefore disappoints in almost every aspect.
