Harald Beckmann

Harald Beckmann (born December 31, 1956 ) is a German cameraman and filmmaker.

Life

He grew up in Schleswig-Holstein and spent his youth in Neustadt / Holstein and Lübeck- Travemünde until 1975 . Inspired by the subculture of West Berlin, he moved to Berlin in 1977 . In 1982 he passed the Abitur on the second educational path . Various courses of study followed. He also drove a taxi . Harald Beckmann regards this work as "great research" in terms of human knowledge and the basis for his later cinematic work. This was followed in 1985 by an internship at the Berlin film production company "Quarz-Film", then a camera assistant for numerous productions for the " Sendung mit der Maus" program .

From 1987 he worked as a camera assistant at the Berlin film production company Kangaroo Film . The collaboration with the filmmakers and Grimm Prize winners Detlef Gumm and Hans Georg Ullrich shaped his artistic career. From 1992 he worked as a cameraman for numerous full-length documentaries . Outstanding is his work as a cameraman on the renowned long-term documentary Berlin-Ecke Bundesplatz (Berlinale 2009) until 2002. At the same time, he shot numerous full-length documentaries of his own as a director and cameraman with Michael Marton, and as a freelance cameraman for ZDF , for which he made numerous documentaries turned.

Harald Beckmann is the owner of the film production company HaBe-Film and lives and works in Berlin.
