Harald Biermann

Harald Biermann (born January 10, 1966 in Rüthen ) is a German historian .

Life

Biermann was born in Rüthen in the Sauerland . After attending school, he studied history at the University of Bonn , where he received his doctorate in 1995. He then worked as assistant director of the foundation in the House of History of the Federal Republic of Germany . Biermann was later appointed by the foundation's board of trustees as the new director of the public relations department. In 2004 he completed his habilitation with a thesis accompanied by Klaus Hildebrand . With effect from July 1, 2010, he became the new representative of the President of the House of History Foundation. In addition to his work, he teaches as a private lecturer in modern history at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn . Biermann lives with his long-term partner Anke Schäferkordt in Cologne . He has published books on topics from the history of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Awards

In 2004 he was awarded the Wolf-Erich-Kellner Prize .
