Anke Schäferkordt (born December 12, 1962 in Lemgo ) is a German media manager . Until the end of 2018 she was Managing Director of Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland , RTL Television and a member of the Bertelsmann AG Executive Board . Since May 14, 2020, she has been elected to the BMW Supervisory Board for a term of five years .

Professional background

She grew up in Henstorf , went to elementary school in Kalletal and graduated from the Marianne-Weber-Gymnasium in Lemgo in 1982 . Schäferkordt then studied business administration at the University of Paderborn . After graduating as a business graduate in 1988, she began her professional career in the commercial management trainee program at Bertelsmann AG in Gütersloh.

Schäferkordt has been with the Bertelsmann subsidiary RTL since 1991. There she took over the management of the controlling department in 1992. From 1993 to 1995 she was Head of Corporate Planning and Controlling at RTL Television. In 1995 she moved to the television station VOX as commercial manager . From 1997 to 1999, in addition to her role as CFO, she was also program director, and from 1999 to 2005 managing director of the station.

In February 2005 she became Gerhard Zeiler's deputy at RTL Germany; Since September 1, 2005, she has been his successor at Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland, which includes RTL Television, VOX, n-tv, RTL II, Super RTL, RTL NITRO, RTL interactive , IP Deutschland , infoNetwork and CBC . Schäferkordt was also the managing director of the TV station RTL .

From 2012 to 2017 she was CEO of the parent RTL Group in Luxembourg together with Guillaume de Posch , but also kept her post in Germany for another year. She has also been a member of the Bertelsmann Executive Board since April 2012. In the same year Schäferkordt was inducted into the Hall of Fame of German Advertising .

On February 1, 2013, Schäferkordt handed over the post of program director of RTL Television (Germany) to the managing director of VOX , Frank Hoffmann . She is a board member at Bertelsmann and a member of the supervisory board of BASF SE .

In March 2017 it was announced that Schäferkordt would give up the position of Co-CEO of RTL Group at his own request in order to concentrate on the management of RTL Mediengruppe Deutschland. She kept her board position in the Bertelsmann group.

In November 2018, she announced that she would be resigning from her post as Managing Director of Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland and RTL Television and from the Bertelsmann Executive Board at the end of 2018. Her successor at Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland was Bernd Reichart .

Michael Hanfeld called her in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung the “pilot” of private television, who had successfully fought “on all fronts” in competition with public broadcasters and streaming services .

At the BMW Annual General Meeting on May 14, 2020, she was newly elected to the BMW Supervisory Board for a five-year term.

Private

She lives in Cologne with her long-time partner Harald Biermann .
