Norbert Reithofer

Norbert Reithofer (born May 29, 1956 in Penzberg ) is a German manager and has been CEO of BMW AG since September 1, 2006 as the successor to Helmut Panke . The previous Board Member for Production, Harald Krüger , became Reithofer's successor at the Annual General Meeting of BMW AG on May 13, 2015. Reithofer now chairs the BMW supervisory board (previously Joachim Milberg ).

Life

After graduating from high school , Reithofer studied mechanical engineering at the Munich University of Applied Sciences from 1974 to 1977 and then moved to the Technical University of Munich to study production engineering and business administration. After graduating as a graduate engineer, he worked from 1984 to 1987 as a research assistant with Joachim Milberg at the Institute for Machine Tools and Industrial Management ( iwb ) at the Technical University of Munich, where he completed his doctorate as Dr.-Ing. from.

In 1987, Reithofer moved to the BMW Group as Head of Maintenance . Later he was head of the main “Body-in-White” department and then Technical Director of BMW South Africa in Rosslyn in the Gauteng province . From 1997 to 2000 he was President of the US BMW US Manufacturing Company in Greer , South Carolina . In March 2000 he became a member of the board (for production); in August 2006 he became CEO. On May 13, 2015, he moved from the executive board to the BMW supervisory board and was elected chairman on the same day. Reithofer has been a member of the Supervisory Board of Siemens AG since January 27, 2015 .

He is a member of the University Council of the Technical University of Munich .
