Simone Menne

Simone Menne (born October 7, 1960 in Kiel ) is a German manager . From 2012 to 2016 she was CFO of Lufthansa AG . From September 1, 2016 to the end of 2017, she was in the Boehringer Ingelheim management team responsible for the finance division. Simone Menne is a member of the supervisory board and non-executive director in various companies (including BMW AG, Deutsche Post DHL, Johnson Controls International) and runs an art gallery in Kiel.

Life and professional history

Simone Menne grew up near Kiel; her father was a trained wood turner, her mother worked for a tax advisor. After graduating from high school, she first completed an apprenticeship as a specialist assistant in tax and business consulting professions and then studied business administration at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel .

Career

In 1987 she started in the auditing department of ITT Corporation . In 1989 she moved to Lufthansa as an auditor. From 1992 she was in charge of accounting for the West Africa region. Later, as Managing Director of Lufthansa Revenue Services, Menne was in charge of IT, user services and a project to realign the revenue and performance accounting of the Lufthansa Passenger Airlines division . From 1999 to 2004 she was responsible for commercial administration and human resources, initially for the Southwestern Europe region until 2001, and later for Europe as a whole. From 2004 to 2010 Menne was head of finance and accounting at Lufthansa Technik . In 2010, Menne switched to the former LH subsidiary British Midland as CFO and supported its sale to the International Airlines Group . In 2012, Menne was appointed CFO of Deutsche Lufthansa, making him the first female CFO of a DAX group. In her role she defended the need for quotas for women in management positions.

Menne was chairwoman of the supervisory board of Lufthansa Cargo AG, LSG Lufthansa Service Holding AG, Lufthansa Systems AG and Delvag Luftfahrtversicherungs AG, as well as a member of the supervisory board of Lufthansa Technik AG. The company announced on June 9, 2016 that Menne had requested an early termination of her Executive Board contract on August 31, 2016. On September 1, 2016, she switched to the management of Boehringer Ingelheim , where she was a member of the management team and was responsible for the finance department. Her work for Boehringer Ingelheim ended at the end of 2017.

Since then, Simone Menne has mainly worked on various supervisory boards and speaks at events on topics such as digitization and the role of women in business. She is a member of the supervisory board of BMW AG (since May 2016), Deutsche Post DHL AG (since May 2016) and Henkel AG & Co. KGaA (since 2020). She is also a Non-Executive Director at Johnson Controls International Plc. (since March 2018) and sits on the board of trustees of the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology FIT .

Simone Menne has been running a gallery in her hometown of Kiel since 2018 with works by young northern German artists. Simone Menne also publishes on her blog on topics such as digitization , business, art and women in management positions.
