Nicolas Peter (born April 1 , 1962 in Mannheim ) is a German manager and member of the Board of Management of BMW AG . There he is responsible for the finance department. His professional career has been in finance and sales.

Life

Peter studied after high school from 1984 to 1988 at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich Law and graduated with the First State Exam from. From 1988 and 1991 he was doing his legal clerkship and in 1989 he did his doctorate with a thesis on the "Claims of the salvor of a thing sunk in the coastal sea". jur. In 1991 he completed his post-university training with the second state examination in law.

Peter spent his entire professional life at BMW AG. He joined the company on April 1, 1991 in the finance department. From 1993 to 1996 he worked in the treasury department at the BMW Coordination Center in Antwerp . From 1996 to 1999 he was group leader in corporate finance. He completed his second foreign assignment from 1999 to 2002 at the French BMW sales company in Montigny-le-Bretonneux as CFO . This was followed by a position as CEO of the Swedish BMW sales company from 2002 to 2004 . In 2005 he switched to the position of Head of Sales Control, Process Development and IT, and from 2007 onwards he was Head of Group Controlling. In 2011 he finally became head of the Europe sales region. On September 29, 2016, the BMW AG Supervisory Board announced in its press release that Peter was appointed Chief Financial Officer effective January 1, 2017.

On January 1, 2017, Peter was appointed to the Board of Management of BMW AG, succeeding the previous CFO Friedrich Eichiner , who retired on December 31, 2016.
