Andreas Wendt (Manager)

Andreas Wendt (born July 10, 1958 ) is a German manager and member of the Board of Management of BMW AG . There he is responsible for purchasing and the supplier network.

Life

Wendt initially studied photography at the Bavarian State College for Photography from 1980 to 1983 . He then studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Munich from 1984 to 1988 . In 1992 he did his doctorate at the Technical University of Munich with a thesis on "Sensors and sensor control concepts for quality assurance in flexibly automated assembly systems" as a Dr.-Ing.

Act

For the first ten years he worked in various functions at Robert Bosch GmbH . In 2002 he joined BMW AG as head of strategy development for the production department. In 2003 he became production manager for chassis and drive components. From 2006 to 2009 he headed the BMW engine plant in the Austrian Steyr . From 2009 to 2017 he proved himself as plant manager at the BMW plant in Regensburg , before he became plant manager at Europe's largest BMW plant in Dingolfing in 2017 .

On October 1, 2018, he was appointed to the Board of Management of BMW AG, succeeding Markus Duesmann , who resigned from his position on July 24, 2018 with immediate effect. In his area, he is responsible for the procurement of goods and services worth 60 billion euros per year.
