Wilhelm Schaaf
Wilhelm Schaaf (born March 19, 1897 in Solingen , † February 20, 1976 in Hamburg ) was a German manager in the automotive and armaments industries.
After 1936, began working as Technical Director of the BMW - branch Eisenach , Schaaf was 1942 Production Manager in Albert Speer's armaments ministry . Due to an ongoing production crisis in BMW aircraft engine manufacturing, BMW General Director Fritz Hille had to resign from his position in May 1944 at the initiative of General Aircraft Master Erhard Milch from the Reich Aviation Ministry (RLM) . The successor was to be Schaaf, who was hostile to Hille, but due to internal quarrels, he was initially only appointed to the BMW supervisory board, which in turn delegated him to the board of directors as production manager. Wilhelm Schaaf only became officially BMW CEO after Hilles was finally eliminated in February 1945, which he remained until June 1945. Nothing is known about Schaaf's whereabouts after the war.
Schaaf was married to Anita Eckermann (* 1907) since 1939; the couple had two children.
In 1944 Schaaf became a member of the Jägerstab .
