Harald Giebels

Harald Giebels (born July 15, 1964 in Lübeck ) is a German politician . From 2005 to 2012 he was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia and is a member of the CDU .

After high school and military service, Harald Giebels began studying law at the University of Cologne . After the second state examination, he became a researcher of German MPs before joining admission as lawyer was given and a private firm founded. He later joined a regional law firm and tax consultancy and also works as a notary 's representative.

Giebels has been a member of the CDU since 1982. He is currently a member of the board of the CDU district association Mettmann , the city association Haan of the medium-sized and business association of the CDU as well as the district association Bergisches Land of the local political association of the CDU .

Harald Giebels has been a member of the Haan City Council since 1984 . He has also been a member of the Mettmann district council since 1999 . Since 2009 Harald Giebels has been chairman of the police advisory board of the Mettmann district police authority. From 1999 to 2004 gable was Regional Council of administrative district of Dusseldorf represented.

Harald Giebels was elected on May 22, 2005 with 45.8 percent of the votes as the direct representative of the constituency Mettmann II in the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia and thus prevailed against Thomas Dinkelmann ( SPD ). Giebels was the legal policy spokesman as well as a member of the extended board of the CDU parliamentary group. He was a member of the Legal Committee, the Prison Commission , the Petitions Committee and the “Europe and One World” committee of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia. In the state elections on May 9, 2010 , Giebels defended his direct mandate in the constituency of Mettmann II with 40.8 percent of the first votes. In the early elections on May 13, 2012, Giebels was defeated by his SPD challenger Manfred Krick with 34.1 percent of the first votes . Giebels' 59th place on the CDU state list was not enough for a return to the state parliament.
