Harald Høffding (1915)

Harald Høffding (born March 11, 1843 in Copenhagen ; † July 2, 1931 there ) was a Danish philosopher who was in the highest esteem in his country.

He initially worked as a teacher before becoming a professor at the University of Copenhagen in 1883 . In his philosophical views he was first influenced by Søren Kierkegaard before turning to positivism .

Almost all of his works have been translated into German. His history of philosophy and his psychological study of humor as an attitude to life ( Den store Humor: en psychologisk study ) were particularly well known . Since 1907 he was a corresponding member of the British Academy .
