Ferdinand Tönnie's complete edition

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ferdinand Tönnies Complete Edition (TG) includes the life's work of the Nestor of German Sociology , Ferdinand Tönnies (1855–1936), published in six languages . On behalf of the Ferdinand-Tönnies-Gesellschaft zu Kiel, according to the publishing contract dated June 1, 1992, Lars Clausen (until 2010), Alexander Deichsel (since 2010 in charge), Cornelius Bickel , Rolf Fechner (until 2006), Carsten Schlüter-Knauer took a critical role , Uwe Carstens (2006 to 2020) and Dieter Haselbach (from 2014).

The scope of the oeuvre of the very hard-working Ferdinand Tönnies, who (because of his late appointment to a professorship) relied heavily on publications, meant that the TG had to be laid out in 24 volumes. The fact that Tönnies' estate has been preserved in the Schleswig-Holstein State Library in Kiel has a positive effect on the edition (a happier research situation than the one with which the editors of the complete works of Max Weber and Georg Simmel have to wrestle).

In detail, volumes 1 to 22 contain Tönnies' work in chronological order, depending on the last edition authorized by him . Volume 23 presents selected unprinted manuscripts in two half-volumes, Volume 24 supplements and the complete index.

The TG has been published by Walter de Gruyter , Berlin / New York , since 1998 . Have already appeared
