Alexander Deichsel (born February 23, 1935 ) is a German social scientist.

Career

He passed the Abitur at the Hamburg Christianeum , studied Romance languages, German and Slavic languages ​​in Munich, Lausanne, Paris and Kiel and, after graduating as an assessor for teaching, studied sociology at the University of Hamburg .

There he became assistant to Janpeter Kob and in 1977 professor of sociology (retired 2000). At the University of Hamburg, Deichsel founded the Ferdinand-Tönnies-Arbeitsstelle (since 2003 at the Alpen-Adria- Universität Klagenfurt ) and is the lead editor of the Ferdinand Tönnies complete edition . Since 2010 he has been President of the Ferdinand Tönnies Society in Kiel.

He is considered the founder of brand sociology as the scientific basis of brand technology , his current field of work, was co-founder of the "Institute for Brand Technology Geneva", which was established in 1993, and was a member of its board of directors until 2014. Since April 2015 he has been a Scientific Associate at the Office for Brand Development in Hamburg. As a former visiting professor at the Collège de France and the University of Zurich , he now gives guest lectures on economic sociology at the State University of St. Petersburg . He also holds lectures at the University of Hamburg with a focus on brand sociology.

Alexander Deichsel has been married to the dramaturge i. R. Renate Voss, they both have two children and three grandchildren.
